Australian wine exports to US jump

The performance of Australia is really amazing: +58% in few months but industry call for a government help

According to the data of the Italian Wine&Food Istitute Australia surpassed Italy in the wine export to United States.

The quantity of Australian wines sold in US in the last four months jump of 58,6%.

Australia is conquerring that market. An interesting market also because the consumption of wine continue to rise (+19,3%) also if the value is decreasing speedily (-14,4%).

Despite this performance Australian wine industry bodies are to call on the federal government for funding to help people leave the industry.

Wine Australia and other national associations, including the Winemakers' Federation of Australia, plan to make a joint appeal to the government as early as July or August, asking for financial support to assist in reducing the size of the Australian wine trade.

The Australian wine industry does not receive funding from the government currently but with problems of oversupply and continued drought in inland areas.
