Teatro Naturale is a weekly online magazine devoted to the rural world. Online since 2003, its mission is to voice people that lives in and on agriculture. Teatro Naturale (TN) is for that people that feel themselves not represented enough by the media. Nowadays, TN is the reference point for people that want to be informed on agricultural, alimentary and environmental facts. Moreover, it is addressed to that people that, besides agriculture, are interested in an invitation to reflection and to the rebirth of a free rural though, exempt by political or ideological memberships. So, TN is dedicated to all that people that thinks that the natural world should not only to defend itself, but should also to evolve and that the quality of agricultural products passes through the quality of people that work on it.
Each Saturday, TN freely provides readings, visions and widening lectures about the countryside world and the agricultural products. All materials can be found directly online or through the newsletter everybody can subscribe to.
The website is divided in two areas. The first one (“Trails” and “Album”) is dedicated to general readers, comprising fans and connoisseurs of high quality enogastronomic products. The second part (“Strictly technical” section) is dedicated to expert persons, employed in the oenologic and oleologic sectors, and to that people that is involved in biologic agriculture and environment tutelage.
TN is directed by the journalist and writer Luigi Caricato and the editorial coordination is conducted by the agronomist Alberto Grimelli. The magazine makes use of the cooperation of important journalists and of qualified co-workers, deriving from different universities and research centres. Moreover, it is noteworthy the presence of Literature as an instrument to deep our knowledge of the agricultural world. The latter is presented in the section called “Visions”, which is dedicated to books, and the section “Stanzas”, which is reserved to famous poets and writers, such as Maurizio Cucchi, Sossio Giametta, Giampiero Neri and Daniela Marcheschi.
And it was exactly while thinking to Giampiero Neri’s work that our title came out. Teatro Naturale expresses the will to be, at the same time, actors and audience, to became and to feel part of nature and, obviously, to interpret an affectionate tribute to Neri, which is the author of the homonymous poem book.
Starting from February 2nd 2009, following the success obtained by the weekly magazine “Teatro Naturale”, we created the monthly “Teatro Naturale International”, a new English-speaking editorial product, dedicated to an international audience. The monthly edition is conducted with the same spirit of the weekly (Italian) version, but proposes origin contents, as well. Through TN International, we’re trying to export and to diffuse our approach to the rural world, by now so successful in TN.
Teatro Naturale and Teatro Naturale International are the creation of people that love and know from the inside the countryside and the agricultural world. Agriculture is the art to be able to wait, Riccardo Bacchelli said. The main point is seeding: something will grow up. Luigi Caricato and Alberto Grimelli, together with all the co-workers, use such a clear belief to water the seed of Teatro Naturale.
The director, Luigi Caricato, is journalist, writer and oleologist. He derives his technical knowledge and his love for the rural world and for the extra virgin olive oil from the family farm (http://www.caricato.it). Caricato family has a olive farming and pressing tradition since 1815. Luigi Caricato (http://www.luigicaricato.net) is an expert extra virgin olive oil taster and he is responsible of many columns on the principal enogastronomic newspapers, both in Italy and abroad. He published 23 books. Among the others, L’incanto dell’olio italiano (Bibliotheca Culinaria, 2001), Oli d’Italia (Mondadori, 2001), Star bene con l’olio di oliva (Tecniche Nuove, 2003), L’olio (Food, enclosed with the “il Giornale” newspaper, 2005), L’aceto (Food, enclosed with the “il Giornale” newspaper, 2005), Olio puro succo di oliva (Tecniche Nuove, 2005) and A tavola e in cucina con le olive (Tecniche Nuove, 2007). He coined the term “oleologist” in order to define his profession. Nowadays, the term is reported by the Treccani linguistic archive and by the European Institute for the intellectual language. From 2007 he is member of the prestigious Spoleto academy for Olive and Oil and he lectures for the Master in oliveculture and olive oil extraction of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Pisa University. Together with the agricultural world, Luigi Caricato is interested in literature, hence he dealt with the redaction of many book reviews and criticisms and he published the novel L’olio della conversione (Besa, 2005, 2006).
The editorial coordination is in charge to Alberto Grimelli, agronomist and journalist. He is the real technical essence of Teatro Naturale, as well as one of the most keen and free soul of the magazine. He is specialized in oliveculture and oil extraction, and he daily lives and works in contact with the countryside and its problems. Moreover he conducts the familiar farm in Sovereto (http://www.lasassaia.it), where he presently lives.
He is a Corresponding Academic of the National Academy for Olive and Oil and cooperates with many university and research centres.
